Clyde E. “Gene”, “Spin” Kenney, 94, of Wellersburg, passed away Friday, August 02, 2019 at The Lions Center.
Born August 29, 1924 in Cumberland to the late Clyde F. and Amanda (Wiegand) Kenney. He is preceded in death by his parents; first wife, Shirley A. (Brode) Kenney; sister, Margaret M. Hensel; son-in-law, Terry McKenzie, and step granddaughter, Lauren Filer.
Gene was a WWII Army Veteran serving in Europe where he received the Purple Heart and Bronze Star. He was a member of Farrady Post American Legion #24, Old Rail Post VFW #6025, Frostburg Elk Lodge #470, and Potomac Lodge 100 A.F. & A.M. Gene was a retired Assistant Terminal Train Master working at Chessie in Cumberland. He enjoyed playing cards, golfing, and traveling.
Surviving are his wife, Gayle “McKenzie” Kenney; a son, Donald Kenney, Greensburg, Pa; a daughter, Diana McKenzie, Corriganville; stepdaughter, Michele Filer, stepson Chuck Robertson; three grandchildren, Jill Arlene McKenzie and husband B.J. Keith; Christopher McKenzie and girlfriend Kristen Marshall, Tera Lynn Martin and husband Marlin; eight great grandchildren, five step-great grandchildren and one step-great great granddaughter.
Gene was cremated in accordance with his wishes.
Inurnment will be in Rocky Gap Veterans Cemetery on Friday, August 9, 2019 at 11:00 am. Military Honors will be accorded by Old Rail Post #6025 and Farrady Post #24 Honor Guard.
Family and friends are welcome to Michele and Todd’s house for a luncheon after the service.
