Janice Kaye Vought, 77, of Midlothian, died Sunday, November 3, 2019 at home as a result of complications from Parkinson’s Disease.
Born February 12, 1942, in Midlothian, Maryland, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Elizabeth (Hamilton) Keister. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 46 years, James Vought, a son-in-law, Thomas Layman, brothers, Harry and Robert Keister, and sisters, Mary and Doris Morgan.
For 42 years, Janice was a teller and, later, a manager at Frostburg National Bank and three of its successive mergers.
She is survived by one son, Brian Vought and wife, Jennifer, Frostburg, two daughters, Kelli Layman, Midlothian, Krista Culler and husband, Robert, also of Midlothian, and a niece whom she loved as a daughter, Melanie (Morgan) Estrella and husband, Noel, Prescott Valley, AZ.
She was “Nana” to seven grandchildren, Korey Layman, Zachary Culler and wife, Paige, Jeremy Culler and fiancée, Taylor, Geoffrey Culler and wife, Breanna, Luke Vought, Aimee Culler, and Casey Culler, and one great-grandson, James Culler. In addition, she is survived by three brothers, James Keister and wife, Gloria, Carlos, Rae Keister and wife, Ora, Finzel, Neil Keister and wife, Nancy, Carlos, a sister, Elaine Resh and husband, Robert, Warren, OH, and sister-in-law, Bonita Burkholder and husband, Thomas, Meyersdale, PA; she was “Aunt Jannie” to numerous nieces and nephews.
She enjoyed spending time with both her immediate and extended family and was once overheard saying, “Children are nice, but grandchildren are WONDERFUL!” She loved having “all her chicks in the nest.” She was happy to call Midlothian home and never cared to venture far from it.
At her request, Janice was cremated. A memorial service will be held at Trinity Assembly of God, Midlothian, on Sunday, November 17, 2019, at 2 p.m. with the Rev. Robert Culler officiating.
Her cremains will be interred in Frostburg Memorial Park during a private ceremony.
