1929 Eileen 2026

Anna Eileen Duncan

January 9, 1929 — January 31, 2026

Frostburg

Eileen Duncan passed away peacefully and surrounded by love, at home, on January 31, 2026, at the spry, young age of 97.

Born on January 9,1929 in Shaft, Eileen was the daughter of William “Cub” and Bessie Watson. Her faith has always been first and foremost in her life. She was taught at a very young age about the Bible and her God Jehovah by her maternal grandfather, Joseph “Pop” Shuck. She became a baptized member of Jehovah’s Witnesses on March 24, 1956. Since that time, she has preached the good news of her faith and told all who would listen to the hope that she has of eternal life.

On October 4, 1947, Eileen married William “Dunc” Duncan after he returned home from WWII. Their beautiful daughter, Sheila, rounded out their family. They lived for 10 years in Monaca, PA before returning home to Frostburg. In addition to her faith, the lion’s share of Eileen’s time was focused on her family. In addition to raising her daughter, she was the Nan to her two adoring grand and one great grandchildren. Eileen was the caretaker to both of her parents, her husband, one of her aunts, and assisted in the care taking of her sister and son-in-law.

Eileen is survived by her loving daughter and best friend, Sheila Grove, granddaughter Jennifer Simmons and husband Walter, grandson Charlie Grove and wife Diann, great-grandson Shane Simmons and partner Colleen Tracy, nephew Gordon Orr, niece Cherie Batzel, nephew James Watson and wife Shana, great nephew Scott Orr and wife Ashley, great nieces Courtney Beanard, Camryn Watson and Baylee Lynch, great-great nephews Weston and Wyatt Orr and Matthew Beanard, extended family Valerie and Dave Henderson, Timothy Jackson, Josh, Kadi, Kyler and Alex Cosgrove and families. Eileen had many amazing friends that were chosen family. A special thank you to Gladys Snelson, Jack and Jackie Whetstone, Cheryl and Bob Creighton, Rick Lemmert, Rosie and Brenda Spataro, Alexa Carter and Kay Weslow.

Eileen was proceeded in death by her husband William “Dunc” Duncan, parents William “Cub” and Bessie (Shuck) Watson, father and mother-in-law Walter and Emma Duncan, brother Mike Watson and his wife Thelma, sister Norma Orr and her husband James “Scotty”, sister Connie Timmons and her husband Bill, son-in-law Dick Grove, nephew Galen Batzel and niece Megan Batzel.

Eileen lived a life defined by quiet strength, love of all people, faith in her God Jehovah and a devotion to caring for her family. She was a steady presence in so many lives, and she touched all that she knew. She loved talking to people and enjoyed every opportunity to tell a joke and make someone smile. What made Eileen smile the most is the love of her fur baby, Louie, and her pride and joy, great-grandson Shane. Her last sentence spoken to her family goes out to all she knew, “I love all you people.”

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Sheena Buskirk, Dr. Mavromatis, Dr. Shombert, Jamie O'Connor and the entire team in the UPMC Western MD Cancer Center, the AMAZING women of 6 Floor West at UPMC Western MD and the kind, caring Hospice team. You made her dark days bright. Thank you.

A celebration of Eileen’s life will be held in the Spring. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the UPMC Western MD Schwab Family Cancer Center.
