Barbara Kay (Walker) McFarland, 79, of Frostburg passed away on Saturday, May 20th, 2023 at UPMC Western Maryland surrounded by family.

Born on February 11th, 1944, to the late John and Susanna (Parks) Walker she was a lifelong resident of Frostburg, and treasured member of the community.

Barbara was preceded in death by her adored husband of 58 years, Jim. They were together since the age of 13, and after almost two years apart, they are finally together again.

Surviving are her daughters, Kimberly Cox and husband Robert, Cindy Diamond and husband Jim; her beloved grandchildren, Nick Diamond, Elizabeth Hobel and husband David, Kaitlyn Morris and husband Zach, Connor Cox and fiancé Emma Edwards, Olivia Diamond, and Courtney Cox; adored great-grandchildren Theo James, Laney Jo and Niko David Hobel; siblings, brother Jack "John" Walker, twin brother Robert "Bob" Walker, and sister SueAnn Thorpe and husband Jr, sister-in-law Diane McFarland and brother in -law Eddie (Eileen) McFarland; life long best friends Karen and Jerry Delaney.

Barbara is most known to the community for her successful Real Estate career of over 35 years. During this time she was awarded many accolades and served on several local committees and boards. Her outstanding efforts and high degree of professionalism in the-real estate industry along with her exceptional dedication to service left a lasting impression on her many, many clients. Barbara was also proud to be a member of the Soroptimist club, a lady of the Elks, Maplehurst Country Club, the Frostburg Republican Club, and Saint Johns Episcopal Church. She was an avid golfer and skier and enjoyed several trips all over the world with her husband, siblings and friends. Her most cherished role, however, was Mom Mom. Her Grandchildren and Great-Grandchildren were the center of her world and any time spent with them was her favorite.

Her family would like to thank the staff in the ED and ICU at UPMC Western Maryland for their care over the last several days.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD, Wednesday, May 24, 2023 from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM.

A funeral service will be held at Durst Funeral Home on Thursday, May 25 at 1:00 PM with Rev. Matt Eichorn officiating. A live stream of the funeral service will be available to view on our Facebook page starting at 12:50 PM on the day of the funeral.

Interment will be at Frostburg Memorial Park.
