Betty Nora (Colosimo) Walker Twigg, of LaVale, formerly of Frostburg, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, January 30, 2016, surrounded by her loving family at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born on October 14, 1932, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Joseph and Naomi (Davis) Colosimo.  She was also preceded in death by her husbands, James Victor Walker, Frostburg, and Lewis Markwood Twigg, LaVale.

Mrs. Twigg was a 1950 graduate of Beall High School.  She was previously employed at Footer’s Dry Cleaners and retired as manager of the original Frostburg Sheetz.

She was a very active member at Trinity Lutheran Church, Cumberland, where she volunteered as a church service reader, altar and communion preparation group, congregational newsletter committee, member of the Bible Study Group, the Women’s Guild, women’s volunteer knitting group donating hats to the newborn babies at various hospitals and was the prayer chain committee leader.

Betty was a member of the Lady Bird Singers and the Never Too Late Girls as well as the September Singers and sang solo to entertain many nursing homes, social organizations and other church services at Trinity.  She was also a member of the Noteables Organ Club, LaVale, MD, and bowled with the Garrett Mountaineer League, White Oak Lanes and The Bowler, LaVale, on the Eagle’s team.  She recently completed WWII, a course at Allegany College of Maryland, with her son, J. Martin Walker.  She also enjoyed knitting and painting.

Surviving are her only child, a son, J. Martin and wife, Londa (Brodie) Walker, of Frostburg; grandsons, Christopher and wife Anna Hinton, Cumberland and David Walker of Frostburg; step-granddaughter, Bridget Troutman and fiancé Jerimie Diehl, Ellerslie; great-grandsons, Dakota Hinton and Addison Hinton, Cumberland; and step-great-granddaughter Layla Diehl, Ellerslie.

In accordance with her wishes, Mrs. Twigg was cremated and a memorial service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church on Friday, February 5, 2016, at 11 am with Pastor Eric Ruble officiating.

A private family graveside service will be held at Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorial donations, in Betty’s name, be made to Trinity Lutheran Church, 326 N. Centre Street, Cumberland, MD 21502.
