Candace Sandvick

September 6, 1953 — June 9, 2023

Candace Rene Sandvick, 69, of Frostburg, Maryland, went home to be with the Lord on June 9, 2023 surrounded by her husband and daughters after a long struggle with Alzheimer's.

 

Candy was born on September 6, 1953 in Frostburg to Lois Ferree and Robert Ferree. She would later graduate with honors from Beall High School and Frostburg State University with a degree in Accounting. She worked as the Chief Financial Officer for the City of Frostburg for over 3 decades, retiring in 2015.

 

Candy is survived by her husband of 42 years, David Sandvick and two daughters, Kathryn Everly and husband Preston of Eckhart and Kimberly Sandvick-Bacon and husband Josh of Frostburg. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Lizzie, Edye, Preston, and Rene; sister Bobbie Cameron and husband Bill of Eckhart; brother Jerry Ralston and wife Gail of Frostburg, and sister-in-law Juanita Andrews of Frostburg. Candy was predeceased by her mother and father and brothers Richard "Rick" Andrews and William Earl Andrews.

Candy also had many nieces, nephews, in-laws, and other relatives that she loved.

 

Candy was gifted with a keen mind for numbers and music and she used both her entire life. She was a member of First English Baptist Church in Frostburg and was actively involved in all aspects of the ministry with her husband who served as pastor. Candy had a beautiful singing voice which she used to honor God. She was athletic and competitive regarding sports and sought excellence in anything she did.

 

Family and Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Sunday, June 11, 2023 from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

 

A Funeral service will be held at Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg, Maryland on Monday, June 12, 2023 at 11:00 am. Pastor Kevin Blanchard, First English Baptist Church, will conduct the service.

 

Donations in her memory may be made to First English Baptist Church, the UMPC Hospice Team, or The Holding Hands for Haley Foundation.
