Carolyn Garlitz

March 13, 1941 — December 20, 2018

Carolyn Isabel Garlitz, 77, passed away on Thursday, December 20, 2018, at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown, WV.

Born on March 13, 1941, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late James O. and Freda (Warnick) Spiker and birth mother, Evelyn L. Spiker.

In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by sisters, Pearl Hutcheson and Dora Steinly; and brothers, James Spiker and E. Leo Spiker.

Carolyn was a Christian by faith and was a member of the 1959 graduation class of Beall High School. She was a loving, caring mother and grandmother and enjoyed time with her girlfriends, shopping and going out to eat.  She never met a stranger.

Surviving are her children; Alicia Wiggins and husband Joseph, Mark Garlitz and wife Patti, Rhonda Reed and husband Tom and their father Jerry L. Garlitz; grandchildren, Jonathon Logsdon and wife Pam, Emily Wiggins, Roger Pierce, Holly Pierce, Sierra Lynn Pierce and Jess Reed and special friend Anna Kate Bean; brother, Leonard Spiker; and numerous great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Saturday, December 22, 2018, from 1-3 pm.  A funeral service will follow at 3 pm with Rev. Everett Spence officiating.
