Carolyn "Suzy" Gibson

August 4, 1938 — September 1, 2019

Carolyn Mae “Suzy” Gibson, 81, formerly of Frostburg, passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 1, 2019, surrounded by family.

Born on August 4, 1938, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late William W. and Thelma Mae (Miller) Hyde.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her granddaughter, Carlie Jo Ritchie.

Mrs. Gibson was a graduate of Beall High School and received her Associate’s Degree from Catherman’s Business School.  She was retired from the U.S. Department of Energy where she had worked in Medical Records and had previously operated a yachting service in Connecticut, was a Girl School leader and was head of the PTA.

Suzy was a dedicated Navy wife, loving mother, and adoring grandmother. She was very protective of her family and always put them first.  She would open up her heart and home to anyone offering her amazing cooking. She loved to dance and enjoyed arts and crafts, especially quilting, gardening, cooking and entertaining.

Surviving are her husband of 34 years, Bernard “Pete” Gibson; daughters, Dee Dee Ritchie, Krista Ragsdale and husband Marvin, Kathy Ullrich and husband Patrick and Karen Martin and spouse Marie; stepchildren, Carey Gibson and wife Charlotte, Scott Gibson and wife Colleen and Tracy Gibson-Lake; 16 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; brothers, Paul Miller and wife Rosie and William Hyde; and many nieces and nephews. She was loved by so many.

In lieu of flowers kind donations can be made to Durst Funeral Home, in memory of Suzie.
