Charles Neilson

Charles Allen Neilson, 89, of Frostburg, passed away on Sunday, August 10, 2025, at his home.

Born November 3, 1935, to the late Marshall and Sarah (Wellings) Neilson. He is preceded in death by his first wife, Norma Jean (Loar) Neilson; and siblings, Thelma Drew, Irvin Neilson, Clarence Neilson, Marshall "Junior" Neilson and Pearl Drew.

Charles started his career as a contractor early in life. He helped construct and expand many of the buildings in Frostburg, including the Frostburg Miners Hospital, nursing homes and historical structures.

He was a man of character and good standing with all the Allegany County Representatives and Businesses creating a better community. His knowledge of history in the surrounding area will be greatly missed.

Charles had a passion for deer hunting and was proud of his 10 point deer.

Surviving are his 2nd wife of 47 years, Shirley Helen (Myers) Neilson; children, Rose Marie Deal, Dorothy Pase and husband Ronald, Stephen Neilson and wife Ann, Kevin Neilson and wife Tracy; 12 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, whom he loved very much.

Family and friends will be received at Good News Assembly of God Church, 525 National Hwy, LaVale, on Wednesday, August 13, 2025, from 1-3 pm. Services will follow at 3 pm with Harland and Jodi Lohr officiating.

Interment will be in Sunset Memorial Park.
