Cleo Henry

January 2, 1928 — November 20, 2018

Cleo Davis Henry, 90, passed away with family beside her on Wednesday, Nov 20, 2018, after a brief illness at the Western Maryland Health System.

Cleo was born to George W. Davis and Leotta Miller Davis on January 2, 1928, in Frostburg, Maryland.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Raymond L. Henry, her daughter Brenda H. Hosken and her brother, Glenn Davis.

Cleo retired from Frostburg State University after years of working as an administrative assistant. Cleo was a faithful member of the First Congregational Church of Frostburg.  In her early years, she was active with the Ladies Aid Society, Pilgrim Adult Fellowship and the Adult Sunday School Class.  Her love for singing manifested as a member of the church choir for decades.  The Church was an extended family for Cleo.Cleo also enjoyed writing poetry and would often recite a poem to her family and friends.   One of her poems, entitled “Garden of My Soul” touched us all.  In the garden of my soul, Is a beautiful golden gate.  And when I enter, I am with God. The glory I see, mere words can’t describe.  Yet I feel a great peace, Being here at God’s side. His smile is infectious, His voice is so clear. As He says calmly to me, Come child, at My right hand be near. So I know as He speaks, All my sins are forgiven, For the garden of my soul, Is with God in His Heaven.

Surviving are her two daughters and their spouses: Linda H. Rase and Rob and Debra H. Stevens and Mike; A son-in-law, Jim Hosken; five grandchildren: Ray Rase (Tracy), Jennifer Ralston, Randy Rase (Sherry), Jamie Hosken (Stephanie), Aaron Stevens (Amy); nine great-grandchildren: Brooke and Brianna Ralston, Nathan and Lillian Rase, Lizzy Stevens, Alex and Alyson Rase, James Hosken and Nayomi Arnold.  Cleo also had two special caregivers: Sheila McKenzie and Michelle McKenzie.

Visitation will be on Friday, November 23, 2018 from 4-7 pm at the Durst Funeral Home in Frostburg.  A funeral service will be held at the First Congregational Church on Saturday, November 24, 2018 at 11 am with Pastor Ken Hamilton officiating.  There will be a visitation one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the First Congregational Church, 103 Bowery Street, Frostburg, Maryland.

Cleo touched many souls through her lifetime.  Yet above all, she is best remembered loving and caring mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.  You will be missed by us all.
