Dr. Siddappa Nagabhushan

October 30, 1943 — August 27, 2021

Dr. Siddappa Nagabhushan, age 77, of Frostburg, MD, passed away suddenly of a heart attack on the Youghiogheny Lake, Friday, August, 27, 2021. He was enjoying life to the fullest on his boat and doing what he loved.

Dr. Nagabhushan was born and raised in a small town outside of Bengaluru, India.  He is the second eldest of 10 children and was the leader of his family.  He studied and trained in medicine at the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences in Bengaluru, India, and went on to finish his surgical rotation in Orthopedics in London, England.

He was the first of his family to immigrate to the United States in 1973.  Upon coming to the United States, he practiced in numerous locations throughout the East Coast. He started taking on more specialties in Orthopedic Surgery before choosing his home in Frostburg, Maryland for last 20+ years. As a skilled orthopedic surgeon, medicine had always been his biggest passion in life. When he wasn’t in the surgical room, he would still be found practicing, consulting, and working with his patients.

When he wasn’t practicing medicine, he spent time with his family traveling the world and grew a new passion for boating at Youghiogheny Lake. He was one-of-a-kind that could fill a room with his laughter and love of music.  He had such a great ability to brighten your day with his smile and jokes.   Above all Dr. Nagabhushan was devoted husband, father, and grandfather.

Surviving are his wife of 48 years, Malini; three daughters, Sapna Nagabhushan, Seema Nagabhushan and husband Kanad Tiwari, Sandhya and husband Gul Sharma; two granddaughters who were the joy of his life, Shivani and Shalini Sharma.

Dr. Nagabhushan was exceptionally proud of both his deep and enduring roots in Southern India as well as his life as a family man. He was extremely religious and charitable to his home town in India where he helped to provide food and clothing to the community and spent time renovating the family temple in Hemavathi, India.

He will be deeply missed but his love, spirit, and legacy will live on through his beloved wife, children, grandchildren, and the temple he spent years restoring.

A private Hindu Ceremony was held on August 30, 2021.

A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.

In lieu of flowers the family asks that monetary donations be made to help provide food and clothing to his home community in India, a place he was proud to give back to. Donations can be made on line or mailed to Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD 21532.
