Eugene Lewis “Gene” Kerr, 77, went home to be with his Lord on Wednesday, July 12, 2017, at WMHS Nursing & Rehab Center.
Born on July 10, 1940, in Frostburg, he was the son of the late James S. and Mary Elsie (Weires) Kerr.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by son-in-law, John Murray and brother-in-law, Clay Stotler.
Following graduation from Allegany High School, Gene served in the U.S. Navy. Following his discharge from the military, he worked for Kelly Springfield Tire Company prior to becoming the owner/operator of Kerr’s Auto in Frostburg. He also served as a driver for Friends Aware.
He was a member Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Farrady Post 24 American Legion, the Piney Mountain Sportsmen’s Club and Big Savage Sportsmen’s Club.
Surviving are children, Karen Murray, Frostburg, Kenny Kerr and wife Brenda, Frostburg, Kathy Anderson and husband Scott, Frostburg, Krista Williams and husband Jason, Winchester, VA; grandchildren, Katie, Kelli, Matt, Rachael, Austin, Sarah, Hannah, Eli and Lucas; great-grandchildren, Murray, Cooper, J.C. and Maria; sisters, Elizabeth Palmer and husband Jerry, Forreston, IL, and Eleanor Stotler and special friend Frank Pirolozzi, Cumberland; and special friend Alice Snyder.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD, on Saturday, July 15, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Sunday, July 16, 2017, at 1 pm with Rev. Dan Agnew officiating.
In accordance to Gene’s wishes, he will be cremated following the service.
Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.
