Faye Wolford

November 20, 1935 — May 7, 2016

Faye J. Wolford, 80, of Frostburg, passed away on Saturday, May 07, 2016, at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.

Born on November 20, 1935 at Wright’s Crossing, she was the daughter of the late Joseph C. and Hazel (Brain) Layman.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Joe Layman.

Mrs. Wolford was a very active member of Shaft Methodist church where she held various positions and was also a Prayer Warrior.  She was husband Buddy’s gal and best friend.  She was a wonderful mother and confidante and dearest friend to her daughter, Alice.  Faye was a loving sister and sister-in-law and brought joy and grace to every life she touched. She was a dedicated daughter to her parents and was a well-loved aunt.

Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Harry E. “Buddy” Wolford, Jr.; daughter, Alice Zapp and husband Joseph, Lockeford, CA; grandsons, Ryan Zapp and Joe Zapp, Jr; sisters, Carol Skidmore and husband Harold, Frostburg, and Paulette Coakley and husband Joe, Shaft; sister-in-law, Ruby Wolford; fresh air child, Nadine Dargan; numerous nieces and nephews and great, as well as great-great nieces and nephews; her fellow church members were also considered family.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Md, on Tuesday, May 10, 2016, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Shaft United Methodist Church, on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at 11 am    with Pastor Daniel Montague and Chris Skidmore officiating.  Music will be accompanied by Michelle Lent. Friends will be received from 10-11 am, prior to the service.

Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Joseph Zapp, Ryan Zapp, Joe Coakley, Harold Skidmore, Tim Coakley and Shaun Skidmore.  Troy and Todd Skidmore will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations, in Faye’s name, be made to Shaft United Methodist Church
