Florine McGowan

Florine McGowan, 95, died peacefully at home on December 30, 2016.
Florine was born in Kitzmiller, MD, on October 21, 1921 to the late Pietro and Michelina (Sicoli) Prato. She was preceded in death by her husband Leon McGowan and a son in-law Dennis White.
She was also preceded in death by her three brothers, Pete Pratt, Thomas Pratt and John Pratt; and eight sisters, Anna Pratt, Nancy Scarpelli, Margaret Quartucci, Rose Pratt, Lorraine Cullen, Joan Wilson, Frances Pratt, Virginia Pratt and a stillborn baby. Florine was the sixth of 13 children.
Florine is survived by her two daughters, Patricia (Patty) McGowan, Shaft, and Elaine White, Grantsville; three grandchildren Leon White and wife Emily, Roxanne Pfeffer and her husband Mike, and Rosella White; great grandchildren, Cecilia, Sophia, Lauryn, Ava, Landon, Landon White, William and Charlie. Florine is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews.
Florine was a homemaker, an avid bingo player and loved to play her slot machines at the various entertainment establishments around the area.

Florine’s family would like to thank her caregivers these past few weeks and the Hospice Workers from the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
