Francis P. “Jackie” Peretti

92, of Frostburg, passed away on Monday, January 19, 2015 at the WMHS Regional Medical Center in Cumberland.

Born April 2, 1922, in Frostburg, to the late Enrico and Antonietta (Ruffo) Peretti.  He was a lifelong resident of Frostburg.  In addition to his parents he is preceded in death by his wife of 58 years, Mary Katherine Wilson; his two brothers, Augustine (Gus) and Joseph Peretti; and his infant daughter, Mary Frances.

Frank graduated from St. Michael School, Frostburg, attended Beall High School and graduated from La Salle High School, class of 1940.  Frank was baptized at St. Michael Catholic Church, Frostburg. He was a life-long member and supporter, and attended the Saturday Mass weekly.

Frank was employed at the Celanese Corp., Kelly Springfield Tire Co., and retired from ATK (formerly Hercules ABL) after 33 years.  He was co-owner of “Pecks” in Frostburg, a member of Frostburg’s Planning and Zoning Board, member of Frostburg Elks #470, a 70 year member of Frostburg Knights of Columbus #1442, a Fourth Degree Chief Justice Taney Knight, and he most recently enjoyed Thursday evening poker at the council.

Surviving are his sister, Mary Antonietta Peretti; nephews, Ronald, Robert and Ken Peretti, Danny, John and Mike Wilson, Jim and John Rowley; nieces, Patti (Peretti) Kenney, Susan (Peretti) Miller, Veronica (Wilson) Cooper; good friend and cousin, Robert Lebeck, and numerous grandnieces and grandnephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg on Thursday, January 22 nd from 7 to 9 pm. Knights of Columbus will hold a service on Thursday at 8:45 pm. Viewing is also on  Friday, January 23rd from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm. A wake service will be held on Friday at 8:30 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church, on Saturday, January 24th at 9 am with Fr. Doug Kenney as celebrant and Fr. Peter Peretti as co-celebrant.

Interment will be in St. Michael Catholic Cemetery, Frostburg, MD.

Pallbearers will be Frank’s nephews and grandnephews.

A reception will be held at St. Michael Catholic Church in the cafeteria at 11 am, following the interment.  Family and friends are invited to gather at Knights of Columbus on Main Street for fellowship from 12 noon to 3 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice in Frank’s honor.
