Franklin G. Yantz Sr.

Franklin G. Yantz, Sr., 84, of Mt. Savage, passed away peacefully at home on September 19, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. 

Frank was a proud United States Marine whose commitment to service, discipline, and integrity remained with him throughout his life. Following his military service, he dedicated himself to educating and mentoring others as a teacher, touching the lives of countless students through his patience, wisdom, and encouragement.

Beyond his professional accomplishments, Frank found great joy in the simple pleasures of life. He was a devoted hobby  armer who loved working the land and took immense pride in caring for his property. A skilled woodworker and craftsman, he could often be found  building, creating, and fixing things with his hands. His talent for construction and woodworking left a lasting mark not only on the projects he completed, but also on the family members and friends who benefited from his knowledge and generosity. 

Above all else, Frank was a family man. He was the beloved husband of Susan and a devoted father to Julie, Frank, and Cory. He treasured time spent with his children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchild and took pride in watching his family grow through the generations. He led by example, teaching the values of hard work, humility, perseverance, and love. 

Frank will be remembered for his quiet strength, unwavering dedication to his family, his willingness to help others, and the legacy he leaves behind through the many lives he touched. His memory will continue to live on in the lessons he taught, the stories he shared, and the love he gave so freely. 

He is survived by his loving wife, Susan; a daughter, Julie Foley and her husband Wayne of Boyertown, Pennsylvania; and two sons, Franklin Gerard Yantz, Jr. and his wife Pamela of Mt. Savage, Maryland; and, Cory F. Yantz and his wife Ti of Mt. Savage, Maryland. Also surviving are five grandsons, Matthew Foley and his wife Michelle; Nicholas C. Foley and his wife Sarah; Franklin G. Yantz, III, and his wife Shalena; Cory F. Yantz, Jr; and, Adam Martin and his wife Annie; and two granddaughters, Rachel Smith and her husband Ryley; and Hannah Foley. 

In addition, he had seventeen great-grandchildren. They are Conor Foley, Lily Foley, Jace and Kole Foley; Rett and Ronin Smith; Alexandrea, Carson, Paxton, Maddox, and Slaton Yantz; Eliza and Ethan Yantz; and, Averee, Lyla, Crue and Jaxon Martin. He was also blessed with a great-great-granddaughter, Brylee. He was preceded in death by his siblings, Jim, Mary Faye, and JoAnn. He is survived by his sister, Patricia and her husband Ronald; and his long-time friends, Glen Stahlman and Ronald Welsh. 

A private service will be held at Rocky Gap. 

Semper Fi, Marine. Your duty is done, your watch has ended, and your legacy lives on in all who knew and loved you.
