Gene Drees

Gene Anthony Drees, 64, of Finzel, passed away after a courageous battle of cancer on Sunday, May 29, 2022, at UMPC Western Maryland.

Born on August 5, 1957, to the late W. Stanley and Nellie Elizabeth (Mull) Drees. In addition to his parents he is preceded by a brother, Gary W. Drees.

Gene formerly worked at Brawner Construction and retired from the Allegany County Roads Dept. He was a member of Elks Lodge #470, former Moose Lodge #221, Midland Sportsman Club “The Patch”, and Sons of the American Legion Post #24. Gene loved going camping and to the beach with family and friends. He always had soft spot in his heart for his dogs.

Surviving are his wife, Debbie Drees; step-son, Jimmy Housel and friend Lorrie; sister, Colleen Brodie and husband Bobby; grandson, Tyler and his grandparents, Larry and Jen Housel and their daughters, Madison, Savannah and Emily; sisters-in-law, Sharon Stallings and Sandy Nelson; brothers-in-law, Sonny Arnold and wife Ruth, Chuck Bucy and wife Donna; a special niece, Skyla and numerous nieces and nephews.

In accordance with his wishes Gene was cremated.

The family will hold a private celebration of his life.
