Gordon James Duguid “Top” of Frostburg, went home to be with the Lordon March 19, 2026, after a four month battle with glioblastoma.
Born April 22, 1955, in Evanston, IL, Gordon was the son of the late Gordon J. and Josephine Sia Duguid.
Gordon retired from the United States Army in 1998 after proudly serving his country for 24 years, achieving the rank of 1st Sergeant. He was awarded the Bronze Star while serving in Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. After retiring,Gordon worked at Lowes in Lavale, MD while earning a bachelor’s degree in Theatrical Design and Technology from Frostburg State University. After graduating, Gordon worked as the Staff Technical Director at California University, Pennsylvania and as the Production Manager, Technical Director, anda lecturer for the Department of Theatre and Dance at Frostburg State University.Gordon also worked numerous festivals, concerts, shows, and events with the International Alliance of Theatrical and Stage Employees, Local 578, in Morgantown, WV. Gordon lived his life in service of others. Whether clearing snow for neighbors, volunteering at elementary schools or working the chains at his grandson’s football games, he was always eager to help others.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Mary Elizabeth Duguid, Debra Duguid, Elizabeth “Cookie” Duguid, Sharon A. Dempsey,brother Ian A. Duguid and stepmother Joyce Duguid.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 47 years Karen Crouse Duguid,of Frostburg; daughter Nicole Duguid Benson (Scot) of Morgantown, WV; son Joshua J. Duguid of Clermont, FL; grandchildren Jude M. Benson, Noah J. Benson,and Luke C. Benson, of Morgantown, WV; brother James R. Duguid (Kay) of Beckley, WV; sister-in-law Joy Duguid; aunt Beth Buske (John) of Ruston, LA; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins, and his faithful companion Nala.
In accordance with his wishes, no viewing will be held. The family will be holding a celebration of Gordon’s life at a later date.
