James “Mike” Michael Kenney

79, of Frostburg, passed away Friday, May 17, 2019 at WMHS Frostburg Nursing and Rehab.

Born October 5, 1939 in Frostburg to the late Leo A. and Edna (Loar) Kenney. He is preceded in death by his parents; a son, Michael David Kenney; two brothers, Joseph Kenney and Fonce Kenney; two sisters, Ann L. Mills and Sarah Cesnick.

Mike was a life member of Divine Mercy Parish St. Michael serving as an Usher and Veteran of Army Reserves. He retired from Kelly Springfield as a tuber operator and retired with 14 years as a painter for Sacred Heart Hospital. Mike was a member of K of C #1442, Farrady Post #24 American Legion, Moose #348, Eagles #1273 and the Midland Outdoor Club.

Surviving are his wife of 59 years, Margie (Garlitz) Kenney; three daughters, Susan Kenney, Frostburg, Cheryl Skidmore and husband Hugh, Midland, and Diane Mazer and husband Rick, Frostburg; four grandchildren, Jamie McGreevy and Nathan Youngblood, Jeffrey McKenzie and wife Kirstie, Eric Raley and wife Elizabeth and Brandi Raley and significant other Bobby Alkire; and five great grandchildren.

Also surviving are two brothers, Ed “Doc” Kenney and wife Kay, Midland and Paul Kenney and wife Linda, Klondike; two sisters, Ellen Whetstone, Vale Summit, Edna Fair, Midland, brother-in-law, Gene Cesnick, Midland and Brennie Mills, Midland and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on Sunday, May 19, 2019 from 2 to 4 pm.

A funeral mass will be held at Divine Mercy St. Michael on Monday, May 20, 2019 at 11:00 am with Fr. Edward Hendricks officiating.

Mike was cremated in accordance with his wishes.

Inurnment will be in St. Michael Cemetery.
