Janet Diane Brennan, 78, entered into the presence of her Lord Jesus on January 15, 2026 after a brave, 3-year battle with cancer. She was born on May 23, 1947, in Wellersburg, Pennsylvania, the daughter of the late Ralph A. Baker and Mary Jane Baker.
Janet was a loving and devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, and friend whose kindness and selfless love touched everyone who knew her. She spent her life serving others, especially her family, with genuine love and care, always shining the light of her Savior in a wonderful way. She loved deeply and in turn, was deeply loved by many.
She retired in 2019 from the State of Maryland Assessment Office after many years of faithful service. In retirement, Janet treasured time spent with her family, whom she loved deeply and joyfully supported.
A woman of deep faith, Janet was a faithful member of LaVale Baptist Church, where her son serves as pastor. She served the Lord gladly through teaching Sunday School, working in the nursery, helping with Vacation Bible School, and singing in the choir. Her love for Christ was evident not only in her service, but in the gentle and compassionate way she lived her life each day. She was a positive person whose energy was contagious.
Janet is survived by her children: Pastor Jim Jeffries and wife Stacey of Frostburg; Wendi Martz and husband John of Woodland; Brandon (BJ) Jeffries and wife Margie of Wellersburg; and Brian Brennan and wife Danielle of Finzel.
She was the proud grandmother of seventeen grandchildren: Logan (Katie), Dalton (Nicole), and Branson Jeffries; Adam Martz and Allison (Blake) Brewer; Peyton (Kelton) Snyder, Madilyn Zollner, Gracie (Tristen) Brehm, and Jake, Mason, Ava, Nate, and Wes Jeffries; and Maddox, Bria, Harper, and Blakely Brennan.
She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren—Evelyn, Amelia, Charlotte Diane, Karsyn, Easton, Gatlin, Jaxton, and Kaseton—with two more great-grandchildren on the way.
Janet is also survived by her brother, Ralph Stephen (Steve) Baker and wife Mary of Meyersdale, niece, Tara Lescalleet, and nephew, Matt Baker, along with many extended family members and dear friends.
She had a special love for her animal companions—her golden retriever, Timber, and her beloved cats, Jimmy J and Rizzo—who brought her much comfort, company and joy.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Monday, January 19, 2026, at LaVale Baptist Church, 1115 National Highway, LaVale, Maryland, with a funeral service to follow at 11:00 a.m. officiated by Pastor Jim Jeffries. Interment will take place at Zion Community Church Cemetery in Wellersburg, Pennsylvania, Janet’s childhood church.
