Janet Darlene Friend

Janet Darlene Friend, 77, of Cresaptown passed away on Wednesday, March 18, 2026 at UPMC Western MD.

Born on September 13, 1948 to the late Nellie (Snyder) and Randolph Lashley. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her brother, Elwood Lashley and niece, Michele Faidley.

Janet was a member of the woman's Shuffle Board Team, The American Legion in Cumberland and the Eagles in Cresaptown. She also loved doing crafts.

Surviving are her husband of 55 years, Floyd Friend; sisters, Nancy Hampton and Catherine Chaney; nephews, Carl Hampton III and wife Christina and their son Carl Hampton IV, Jason Mawhinney and wife Selena and their daughter Angel; nephew and god son, Lenard Faidley Jr. "LJ"; god son, Tyler Beck.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Monday, March 23, 2026 from 1PM to 2PM. A funeral service will follow at 2:00 with Rev. George Harpold Officiating.

After the services Janet will be cremated in accordance with her wishes and interned in Restlawn Memorial Gardens at a later date.
