Mary “JoAnn” Filer Pratt

81, passed away peacefully on Monday, October 30, 2017, surrounded by her three daughters and grandson, Michael, in the ICU at WMHS Regional Medical Center after battling various serious health issues for the last two years.

Born on October 2, 1936, in Shaft, she was the daughter of the late Joseph A. and Jane Marie (Evans) Clark.

In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pratt was preceded in death by her first husband, Cloice E. Filer, in 1961, and her second husband of 34 years, John A. Pratt, in 2000; son-in-law, Michael Terrance “Terry” McAteer, Jr, in 2008; and numerous sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law.

JoAnn was a member of St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Divine Mercy Parish. She was a graduate of the 1954 class of Beall High School.  She retired as bookkeeper from Prichards after 20 years and was previously employed by Kiddie Town and Super Shoes.

She was an expert bingo player and enjoyed crafting, reading and working crossword puzzles.

Surviving are daughters, Mary M. Pratt-Henaghan and husband Billy, Bowie, MD, Beth Ann Clark and husband, Robert, Morgantown, WV and Tamara “Tammy” McAteer, Frostburg; grandchildren, Michael T. McAteer III and fiancé Rachel Whetzel, Levels, WV, Mary K. McCoy and husband Bryon, Monroeville, PA and Thomas Clark and wife Laura, Stow, OH; greatgrandchild, Serenity R. McAteer, Levels, WV; sister, Judith Robeson and husband Owen, Point of Rocks, MD; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, MD, on Wednesday, November 1, 2017, from 2-4 and 7-9 pm.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Divine Mercy Parish, 44 E. Main Street, Frostburg, on Thursday, November 2, 2017, at 11 am, with Father Ed Hendricks serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, JoAnn requested that memorial donations, in her name, be made to the Allegany County Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 566, Cumberland MD 21502-0566, or the ASPCA at www.aspca.org.

The family offers their sincere thanks to the following doctors and their staffs: Dr. Jesus Tan, Center for Clinical Resources, CHF Clinic and the Wound Care Clinic, Dr. Failing, Dr. Singh, Dr. Mavromatis, Pharmacare of Frostburg, Home Healthcare of WMHS and the nursing staff at WMHS.
