JoAnn (Yantz) Stafford, 60, of Mt. Savage, passed away peacefully at her home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016, surrounded by her family.

Born on July 10, 1955, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late William and Faye (Early) Yantz.

In addition to her parents, JoAnn was preceded in death by her son, Dewey Michael Stafford, a brother James Yantz and his wife Jaqueline, a sister Mary Faye Smith and her husband Alton and a niece Mary Beth Dean.

Mrs. Stafford was retired from Western Maryland Health System where she worked as a registered nurse. She was a member of Our Lady of the Mountains parish, St. Patrick’s Church, the Sodality and Daughters of the Nile, and was treasurer for the Ladies Auxiliary of the V.F.W. Post 6025.

Surviving are her husband of 39 years, Larry R. “Dewey” Stafford; daughter, Amy Booth and husband Stephen of Mt. Savage; three grandchildren, who were the love of her life, Haley Booth, Noah Booth and Ella Booth; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Roy and Elouise Stafford brother, Franklin Yantz and wife Susan of Mt. Savage; sister, Patricia Hensel and husband Ronald of Ellerslie; numerous nieces and nephews; and her canine companion, “Daisy”.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Md, on Friday, January 29, 2016, from 4-7 p.m.

A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Mt. Savage, on Saturday, January 30, 2016, at 10 a.m .with Father Greg Chervenak O.F.M. Cap serving as celebrant.

Interment will follow in St. Patrick’s Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations, in JoAnn’s memory, be made to: U.P.M.C. Passavant Hospital Foundation, 9100 Babcock Blvd, Pittsburgh, PA 15237, who through their excellent care allowed her to make more memories with her loving family.
