Judith McKenzie

Judith Ann Linthicum McKenzie left her earthly home surrounded by her loved ones on December 23, 2025.

Judith was born on October 10, 1943, in Cumberland, Maryland, to her loving parents, Nellie and Richard "Dick" Linthicum. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by the love of her life, her husband John Joseph McKenzie; her in-laws, Betty (her partner in crime) and Austin "Tip" McKenzie; and her best friend and sister at heart, Linda Lee Blackburn.

Judy was a graduate of Allegany High School. She began her working years alongside her parents at the Center Theater, where she could often be found enjoying a movie or double feature with her dad-memories she cherished deeply. She later pursued a career in nursing, becoming a Labor and Delivery nurse at Sacred Heart Hospital. An unfortunate fall brought her career as an LPN to an end.

The best years of Judy's life began when she became a devoted mother to her daughters, Julie and Jina. After many years of volunteering at St. Michael's School, Judy was offered a position as a computer instructor. It was there that she truly flourished. Her love for children and helping them grow shone brightly, and she became affectionately known to many as "Miss Judy." She wore many hats and filled many roles at St. Michael's, and she was able to retire when the school closed.

Retirement allowed Judy to become a full-time Mimi to her grandchildren, Leah, John, and Lara, and later Joseph and Jemma. She shared her love of art with them and delighted in teaching them how to bake and cook. Her grandchildren were her greatest joy, and she never felt she could spend enough time with them.

Judy was a devout Catholic and a faithful member of St. Anthony's Parish, where she cherished her church family. Each day, Judy could be found watching Mass from churches around the world, praying the rosary, and reading from her prayer book. She kept an extensive prayer list, and once someone was added, they were never removed.

Throughout her life, Judy faced many health challenges, meeting each one with strength, courage, and determination.

Judy leaves behind her daughters, Julie McKenzie (Wayne) and Jina Malone (Jason); her special nephew, Kevin McKenzie (Tracy), who was like a son to her; her grandchildren, Leah Aldridge (Tucker), John Bittinger (Rachel), Lara Bittinger (Bri), Joseph and Jemma Malone; her great-grandson, Asher Aldridge, whom Judy was over the moon to have met; her loving brother, Richard "Rick" Linthicum (Barb); Brothers in law Keith McKenzie and Kenneth Rosenberger and several nieces and nephews.

Judy will be deeply missed by many. She was a very special person who touched countless lives.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, Maryland, on Saturday, December 27, 2025, from 1:00 to 2:00 p.m., with a service immediately following. Interment will be in Finzel Cemetery.
