Judy Carter

May 10, 1950 — March 17, 2016

Judy Ann Carter, 65, of Frostburg, passed away peacefully on the morning of Thursday, March 17, 2016, with her husband and sons by her side after a long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.  The Good Lord needed another angel by his side and called upon her for her service

Born on May 10, 1950, in Cumberland, she was the daughter of the late Douglas Algar and Rose Ellen (Harper) Golliday. She is preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, David Mike Carter.

Judy graduated from Allegany High School in 1968 and attended Allegany Community College.  After her marriage to Don in 1970 and her children were in school, she went back to college and obtained her Bachelors and Master’s degree in education.  She began her teaching career in 1986 at John Humbird Elementary and subsequentially transferred to Mount Savage Elementary.  She was planning on retiring this year after teaching 30 years.  Within that time of teaching young children, she made many close friends with other teachers, student teachers and a lasting impression on children, which many of them still keep in contact.  Many have enjoyed her chocolate chip cookies.

Mrs. Carter was a member of the Phi Chapter of Alpha Delta Kappa women’s Educators Sorority.  She was also a faithful member and attended Eckhart United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School and helped in various activities.

Judy loved life and was a friend to anyone and everyone she met.  She always loved when all her grandchildren were at her home, attending their activities, vacations with friends and family, shopping with her sisters and daughters in law, visiting with all her friends and helping with anyone that needed it.

Surviving are her husband of 46 years, Donald L. Carter; sons, Donald L. Carter Jr. and wife Kristan, Frostburg, Gregory Douglas Carter and Jessica Ahmed, Laurel, Phillip Aaron Carter and wife Cora, Frostburg.  The love of her life was her six grandchildren who she loved dearly, Taylor Ashley, Reese Elizabeth, Brooke Alexander, Jayden Lucas, Ellie Lauren and Dice Patrick.  Her sisters and her best friends, Sandra Sue Evans and husband Dave, Bedford, PA, Bonnie Jean Zembower and husband Joe, Cumberland, and Jane Ellen Farrell and husband Earle, Eckhart.

Also surviving are mother-in-law, Betty Wright and husband Bob, Ridgeley, WV; sisters-in-law, Susan Lucas Biggs and husband Paul, Mt. Savage and Linda Carter, Pocahontas; brother-in-law, Daniel carter, Ridgeley WV, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Judy was cremated in accordance with her wishes.
