Kaitlyn Marie Leedy, 35, of Frostburg, Maryland passed away on April 22, 2025.
Born on January 1, 1990 to Karen Cloutier and Jeffery Bates. Preceded in death by her father, Jeffery. Survived by her husband, Adam Leedy and their son Callum, her mother Karen and step-father Michael Cloutier, and her brother Jeremy Bates.
Kaitlyn was an accomplished Machine Learning Engineer, having earned a Bachelor of Science in English along with a Bachelor of Science in History in 2014 from Frostburg State University in Frostburg, MD. She then went on to earn her Master of Science in Applied Computer Science in 2018 from Frostburg State University. Additionally, Kaitlyn earned a patent while working at IBM for her work in Machine Learning and Natural Language Processing.
While at Frostburg State, Kaitlyn became a sister of the Alpha Sigma Alpha sorority, Theta Lambda chapter and was later an advisor for the chapter. As a member and advisor for ASA, Kaitlyn was a strong believer in service and volunteerism, encouraged diversity, and was an advocate for women in STEM.
Kaitlyn was a loving wife and adoring mother. She enjoyed playing with Callum and watching him grow and explore new things. At home, Kaitlyn was an avid reader of most anything, and loved to knit and crochet. Kaitlyn also enjoyed exploring new cities and spent many hours going through museums with Adam.
Kaitlyn was a bright light that positively touched the hearts of everyone she met. Her family wishes to express their appreciation and gratitude to the staff of Sterling Care Frostburg Village for ensuring she was cared for with love and friendship until the end.
Kaitlyn was cremated in accordance with her wishes and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, on Saturday, May 17, 2025, from 2 - 3 PM. A memorial service will follow at 3 PM.
