Kathleen Louise "Kaye" Larkin, 90, of Frostburg passed away on Saturday, September 13, 2025 in Cumberland, MD.
Kaye was born on March 12, 1935 to the late Kathleen (Rafferty) and Vernard Winner. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her best friend and devoted husband of 52 years Michael Vincent Larkin and two infant children, Paula Jean and Bernard Joseph.
Kaye was a devoted wife, a loving mother, a proud grandmother and a joyful great-grandmother. Surviving are her children, Mary Schriver and Fiancé Mike Fair, Michael Larkin and fiancé Tina McNally, Regis Larkin and wife Bobbi, Anne Faber and husband John; grandchildren, Amy Schriver, Eric Schriver (Nicole), Joel Schriver, Seth O'Rourke (Meghan), Josh O'Rourke (Nikki), Brooke Miller (Nathan), Brandon Larkin, Austin Michael, Michael Larkin (Gina), Katie Leggett (Mathieu), Abigail Androus (Colin), Kel Larkin, Garrett Faber (Jessica), Ryan Faber (Stacy); great grandchildren, Trevaughn Taylor (Brenna), Kayona Schriver, Larkin Schriver, Maddy O'Rourke, Parker O'Rourke, Rosemary O'Rourke, Grace Miller, Hudson Miller, Vivienne Anne Larkin, Atticus Androus, Evelyn Faber, Samual Faber and Bennett Faber. Kaye's family was happily present to celebrate her 90th birthday at St Michaels Church this spring.
Kaye was a devout Catholic and a life long member of the Devine Mercy Parish. She was born in Lonaconing, MD and raised with ten siblings. She is preceded in death by siblings Mary Winner, Veronica Beckner, Rose Montgomery, John Winner, Bernard Winner, and Gerry Winner. She is survived by two brothers, James Winner and Robert Winner and two sisters Elizabeth Woods and Sister Kathleen Bernard.
Kaye graduated from Central High School and become a Registered Nurse in 1956. A lifelong learner, Kaye was one of the first Nurse Practitioners when she graduated from the University of Maryland in 1979. She later became a Certified Diabetic Educator spending her career at Sacred Heart Hospital.
Kaye lived her life with a heart full of love, joy and selflessness. Always smiling, always happy, she had a gift for brightening every room she walked into. She never thought of herself first. Her life was a constant reflection of the golden rule, treating everyone with kindness, compassion and respect.
We would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to her devoted caregiver Sue Richards. Kaye loved Sue and her family as if they were her own. We would also like to thank the caring, compassionate staff at The CountryHouse and UPMC Hospice.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Friday, September 19th from 5 to 8 p.m.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at St Joseph's Church in Midland on Saturday September 20th at 11 a.m. Interment will be in St. Michaels Cemetery.
