Leah Bridges

Leah Bridges, 90, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, April 29, 2023, at UMPC Western Maryland surrounded by her family.

Born June 13, 1932, to the late John Thomas and Pearl (Anderson) Eckhart In addition to her parents she is preceded by her husband of 56 years, Orivlle "Rocky" Bridges; sister, Eloise Natolly.

Leah was a lifetime member of Eckhart Baptist Church. She worked at Kings Department Store until their closing and briefly employed at Sacred Heart Hospital. Leah and her husband also owned and operated a Gulf Service and Grocery Store in Eckhart.

Surviving are one son, Dennis M. and wife Cindy; one daughter, Terri Walker and husband Fred.

She is also survived by five grandsons, Jason E. Bridges and wife Jessica, Brandon E. Bridges and finace Melissa J. Fowler, Shawn M. Bridges and girlfriend Mary Munion, Cory W. Walker and wife Kristin, Aaron M. Walker and wife Vanessa; ten great-grandchildren; special nephews, Bill Natolly and wife Karen, John "Lash" Natolly and wife Lynn; and numerous other nieces and nephews.

Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, on Wednesday, May 3, 2023 from 11 am to 1 pm. Funeral services will follow at 1 pm with Rev. Matt Eichhorn.

Inurnment will follow at Eckhart Cemetery.

The family would also like to thank Pastor Eichhorn, who mom enjoyed spending time with for many years and has provided support to her family; Janet Hager, who mom enjoyed sharing old Eckhart stories with every week as well as the staff at UPMC on 7 North for all their care and support.

Mom loved waiting for the hummingbirds to arrive every year and enjoyed watching and feeding them. She saw them as a symbol of love, joy and beauty. The next time you see a hummingbird, please think of our mom or someone you love.
