Leona Etta Broadwater

Leona Etta (Neilson) Broadwater, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2023, at UPMC Western Maryland Hospital.

She was born on March 26, 1935, in Frostburg, to the late William Ludwig and Etta Leona (Baker) Neilson. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband, Russell J. Broadwater.

Leona was a member of Frostburg United Methodist Church and enjoyed lunches with her classmates, gardening, trying new recipes and exploring new places. She was an Army wife who traveled all over the world. She was loved by all and will be missed.

Surviving are brother, Lloyd Neilson and wife Brenda, Frostburg; nephew, Jeremy Neilson and wife Sara, Massachusetts; niece, Tessa Neilson Allen and husband Jess, South Carolina; great nieces, Lexie and Alivia Allen. Also surviving are numerous relatives from the Broadwater Family.

Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave, Frostburg, on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 12:30 pm to 2 pm. A Funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Chris Skidmore speaking.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
