Linda Ann Barry

May 5, 1945 — Aug 14, 2026

Linda A. Barry died Friday, August 14, 2026 surrounded by family after a long illness. Born May 5, 1945 in Cumberland, MD, she was the daughter of the late William and Cecelia (McKenzie) Dugan. She was preceded in death by her husband Robert F. Barry and her brothers, Bill Dugan and Bob Dugan.

Linda is survived by her two sons, Brian C. Barry of Winston-Salem, NC and Patrick M. Barry and wife Lori Barry of Sunbury, OH along with their two boys Eli and Henry. She is also survived by several cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Linda graduated from Beall High School in 1963 and then after graduating from Frostburg State College with a degree in elementary education she went on to fulfill her dream of becoming a teacher and was employed by Allegany County Public Schools. Linda was loved by hundreds of her students over her many years in the classroom. One of her greatest joys was inspiring multiple students to go on and become teachers and future educators themselves. Right up until her death she would regularly receive letters and cards from former students thanking her for being such a positive influence and role model when they were sitting in her class so many years ago.

A talented gardener, baker, and cook, she enjoyed baking delicious cakes for family and friends for all types of special occasions and made the best wedding cakes in the Tri-State area. Linda found no greater joy than cooking a meal for a friend when they were sick or going through a hard time.

Following her teaching career, Linda became very active in the Frostburg community supporting live music events and regularly attending the "Cultural Events Series" at Frostburg State University. Linda loved being a member of the House and Garden Club of Frostburg where she hand-crafted the most beautiful ribbon-bows and spent time proudly tending to her lamppost planter baskets on Main Street. Linda also looked forward to participating in "Trivia Nights" on Sundays at the Knights of Columbus.

Linda was very proud and fond of her Irish heritage and loved sharing her Irish wit with everyone she met.

Linda was a devout Catholic and proud member of St. Michael's Church where she attended several masses per week and loved serving her church on the decorating and bereavement committees.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made, in Linda's name, to St. Michael's Church, or to a charity of choice.
