Linda Fulton Blair, 64, loving wife, devoted mother, supportive aunt, loyal friend, and sweetness and light personified to all those lucky enough to know her passed away
December 25, 2025, after a two-year battle with cancer.
Born January 31, 1961, in Pittsburgh, PA, she was the daughter of the late Theodore Ramsay Fulton and Jean (Hood) Fulton. She moved with her family to Cumberland at the age of four and grew up on Gephart Drive, graduating from Allegany High School in 1979. She received her associate's degree from Allegany College of Maryland in 1981. At the age of 48, she returned to school and got her bachelor's degree from Frostburg State in 2009.
After graduating from ACM, she worked at WVU Hospitals in Morgantown as a medical lab technician before meeting the love of her life, Wray Blair, in 1986 at a dance at the Clarysville Inn. They married in 1987 and started a family, settling first in LaVale, then in Bethany, WV, and finally in Frostburg. She left the working world to raise her boys, then was employed at Bethany College, Frostburg State,
Kohl's Department Store in LaVale, and Sterling Care at Frostburg Village. Just a year before her diagnosis, she found what she called her "dream job" working at the Westernport Library.
Linda was so many things to so many people. In her youth, she was a talented singer and beauty pageant contestant, finishing as second runner-up Miss Allegany County in 1979. After having children, she was a Cub Scout den master, tee-ball coach, marching band mom, and a fixture at any concession stand she could find to volunteer in. A people's person if ever there was one, she truly never met a stranger. Her warmth towards everyone she met was matched only by her interest in everything she came across. She loved, in particular, otters, cardinals, cats, crafting (especially stuffed gnomes), tennis, the Pittsburgh Steelers and Pirates, mystery novels, children's literature, Audrey Hepburn, MGM musicals, and the films of Alfred Hitchcock and Wes Anderson, to name just a few. She could find pleasure in anything and did; every moment spent with her was an opportunity to see the world in a different light.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her aunt, Marilyn Bohn, and uncle Fred Bohn. She is survived by her husband of 38 years, Wray N. Blair; two sons, Tim Blair and wife Katie Blair, Martinsburg, WV, and Daniel Blair, Frostburg, MD; three siblings, sister Susan Nelis and husband Art Nelis, North Huntingdon, PA, brother Tim Fulton, Coeur d'Alene ID, and sister Wendy Hinkle and husband Greg Hinkle, Peyton, CO; her nephew, Shane Nelis, and nieces, Brittany Nelis, Lauren Potts, and Lindsay Fulton, her father and mother-in-law,
Wray and Maxine Blair, Frostburg, MD; her sister-in-law, Danita Sciuk and husband Kevin Sciuk, New Kent, VA, and many dear, close friends. In accordance with her wishes, Linda was cremated. Friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, Frostburg, Friday, January 9th from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. A memorial service and celebration of life will be held at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Frostburg, Saturday, January 10th at 11:00 a.m. Friends will also be received an hour prior to the service.
The family would like to extend its thanks to UPMC Western Maryland Hospice for the love and care they provided her. In lieu of flowers, Linda asked for donations to be directed to the Save the Westernport Library Fund. She will be dearly missed every day but will live in our hearts forever.
