Margaret "Peggy" (Layman Arnold) Tomlinson, 78, of Frostburg, passed away Sunday, November 23, 2025 at her home surrounded by family and friends.
Born December 18, 1946, in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Harry and Helen (Smith) Layman. Also preceding her in death are her sister, Louise Kirchner and her brother, Harry John "Blackie" Layman.
Peggy is survived by her husband, Robert "Bob" Tomlinson with whom she spent the last 15 years. Peggy honored the memory of her late husband of 34 years, Ralph "Heavy" Arnold. Together they had three wonderful children: a daughter, Sherry Buffenmyer (Jeffrey); two sons, Ralph "Butch" Arnold (Tracy), and Charles "Charlie" Arnold (Robbin); five special grandchildren, Connor Arnold (Katee), Taylor Dickel (Garrett), Casey Arnold (Nick), Alexie Hauptmann (Evan) and Erica Cunningham (Daniel); and seven great-grandchildren, Ashlynn, Teddy, Case, Charlotte, William, Emmie, and Clifton. Stepchildren, Troy Tomlinson, Tracy Marlitua, and Tiffany Clark and her dear friend, Vivian Helsley, and several special nieces and nephews all of whom held a special place in her heart. Her furry companions, Becca & Jake.
Peggy graduated from Beall High School in 1964. She was a member of St. Paul's Lutheran Church. Peggy loved to bowl & participated on many bowling leagues through the years. She loved to shop. Shoes, makeup, jewelry and anything leopard were just a few of her favorite things. She was also very creative & enjoyed stained glass art, sewing, quilting & cake decorating. She enjoyed traveling throughout the US with her family and friends any chance she could get.
She retired from Teamsters Local 453 where she always looked forward to the next project or an opportunity to drive a Caterpillar 777.
Above everything, she loved her family. Spending time with them brought her immense joy. We will forever hold her memory close and take comfort in the love that she shared. The family extends heartfelt thanks to all who have offered their love, prayers, & support during this difficult time.
Friends will be received at the Durst Funeral Home, P.A., 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, on Saturday, November 29 from 1:00 - 3:00 PM, with a funeral service following.
Interment will be in the Layton-Arnold Cemetery, Sampson Rock Road, Finzel at a later date.
