Martha DeVault

Martha Edna Hott Leatherman DeVault, 97, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 9, 2020, at Egle Nursing Home.

Born on December 24, 1922, in Carlos, she was the daughter of the late Archie and Edith (Stevenson) Hott.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold “Jack” Leatherman and two daughters, Sandra (Leatherman) Thomas and Martha “Bonnie” Leatherman Unger; granddaughter, Tonya Sue Fazenbaker; stepson Ken DeVault and stepdaughter Katie Miller.

She is also preceded in death by her second husband Roy DeVault; brothers, Archie, William and Bazel Hott; sisters, Ruth, her twin, Elizabeth, Goldie, Jane, Pearl, Agnes, Stella and Myrtle.

Martha was a homemaker for most of her life.  She attended Welsh Memorial Baptist Church in Frostburg where she taught Sunday School for a number of years.

Surviving are sons, Norman “Buddy” Leatherman and wife Dottie, Keyser and Harold "Butch" Leatherman Jr. and wife Cecilia, Barton; daughters, Barbara Kennedy, Hagerstown, and Nancy Leatherman, Barton; stepson, John DeVault; 10 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; and 5 great-great grandchildren.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, on Friday, August 14, 2020, from 11 am to 2 pm.  Funeral service will follow at 2 pm with Pastor Jim Jeffries officiating.

Interment will follow in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that memorial donations, in Martha’s name, be made to charities of their choice.
