Mary Jane "Janie" James, 78, of Frostburg passed away at home on Monday, August 3, 2026.

Born on January 23, 1948 to the late Ethel (
Eisentrout) and William Davis. In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband Thomas John James.

Janie was a lifelong member of 
Frostburg United Methodist Church, and would read her bible and praydaily. She often spoke fondly of her time teaching Sunday School and helping to set up for communion.

Janie worked in many different positions in healthcare, ending her career working in housekeeping on the Alzheimer's unit at
 Frostburg Village. In life, she was caring and selfless, often putting others before herself, and she loved to make others laugh and smile. She loved to bake and deliver goodie platters to neighbors and friends. When she wasn't baking, you would find her spending time doing crafts or playing games with one of her dearest friends Kay. She also enjoyed traveling with her friend Mary. They traveled everywhere together, but her favorite was their yearly trips to Myrtle beach.

Janie's husband Tommy was the love of her life. One of her greatest joys was simply spending time wit
him and cooking for him. They liked to take scenic drives together, often to go see bridges he wabuilding. Together, they enjoyed raising and spending time as a family with their daughter Alison. When Janie and Tommy got married, she instantly became a mother to Tommy's daughter Roxanna, who she loved dearly, and a grandmother, eventually to three grandchildren, who called her Meemaws.

Janie loved all animals. Over the years she had many pets but she loved her cats the best. She
 leaves behind two cats, Layla and Emmy.

Surviving are her daughters, Roxanna
 McCormic, Alison Goetschius and husband Michael;granddaughters, Jennifer LeRow (Wade), Tiffany Ponce (Leo), Luci Lara (Gerardo); 9 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. 

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue,
 Frostburg, MD on Friday, August 7, 2026 from 10-12. Funeral Service will follow at 12 with Pastor Peter Goetschius.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

The family would like to the thank her many caretakers at the hospital, especially those in would care, those on the high level care unit, and the hospice team who took care of her in her home.
