Michael Warne

September 14, 1946 — May 20, 2015

Michael S. Warne, 68, of Frostburg, passed away on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, at the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center in Cumberland, MD

Born September 14, 1946, in Frostburg, he was the son of Everett W. Warne and the late Marguerite (Taccino) Warne.

In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Jack Robison.

Michael was a member of St. Michaels’s Catholic Church, Frostburg Elks #470 and the Mountain City Wheelmen bike riders and served in the Army Reserves for six years.

He taught in the Garrett County School system for 38 years, teaching at Bloomington, Route 40 and Grantsville Elementary Schools. He took countless students on field trips to the C&O Canal, Baltimore Aquarium and was the originator of the Morning News Program at Grantsville Elementary School.

He was a lover of biking, Allegany Highlands Trail, teaching, animals and life. He could fix anything from a bike, car, tractor or house.  He was willing to help anyone with any project at any time.  He touched many lives in Garrett and Allegany Counties and will be greatly missed.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Ann (Campbell) Warne; children, Lorie Burdock and husband Jack of Finzel, Michael A. Warne and wife Holly of Swanton and Julie Kostovick and husband Matthew of Finzel; grandchildren, Joseph Burdock, Abby Burdock, Olivia and Natalie Warne and Luke and Gwendolyn Kostovick; sister, Victoria Robison of Frostburg; numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family is thankful for the love, care and support from Dr. Jesus Tan, Dr. Harjit Sidhu, and Frostburg Nursing and Rehab for all their love, friendship and support.

We have been blessed with an incredible support group of family and friends.  We appreciate your visits of love, hugs, food and prayers.
