Norma L. Abucevicz

87, of Mt. Savage, passed away Saturday, May 27, 2017 at WMHS Regional Medical Center.

Born on December 17, 1929, in Eckhart, to Victor and Pearl (Heart) Meager. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Chester Abucevicz; daughter, Apryl Roach, sisters, Mary “Mame” Winter, Pearl Eisentrout, and Emma Beal; and brother, Robert Meager. She was the last surviving of her immediate family.

Norma was a member of Barrelville Presbyterian Church and served as Clerk of Session at the church for many years. She was formerly employed by McCrory’s Dept. store before the birth of her first child. Norma was known for her bread baking, candy making and canning food. She was a self-taught seamstress, crocheted and upholstered furniture. Norma was always a very welcoming person never meeting a stranger and could whip up a meal and feed many in little time.

Surviving are daughters Cheryl Adcock and husband Michael, Barrelville, Julie Edwards and husband William, Cumberland, and Valerie Abucevicz, Sunnyside, son-in-love, Jeff Smith and wife Rae Ann; grandchildren,  Kelly Jones and husband Stephen, Chester Smith, Lyndsay Smith, Sean Adcock, Christopher Adcock, Presley Mines and husband Simon, and Tracy Edwards; great grandchildren, Jacob Jones, Eva Pearl Jones, Miles Mines, Ella Rose Warnick and Jamison Warnick; nieces and nephews, Erik Eisentrout, Krista Eisentrout, Andrew Eisentrout, Teddy Abucevicz, Keith Abucevicz, and Michael Abucevicz.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 pm.

Funeral service will be held at Barrelville Presbyterian Church on Thursday, June 1, 2017 at 11:00 am with Pastor Ed Moore officiating. Friends will be received one hour prior to the service.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Gardens.

Family requests that memorials be directed to Barrelville Presbyterian Church in Norma’s honor.
