P. Valerie Vrieze

February 21, 1927 — March 20, 2024

Frostburg

P. Valerie Vrieze, of Frostburg, MD died on, March 20, 2024 at home. She was born in Princeton, NJ, the daughter of late Captain Elmer B. Greey Sr., USN, and Mary (Acuff) Greey. Her husband, Dr. Jack W. Vrieze, preceded her in death in 2000.

Mrs. Vrieze was a retired teacher from Mineral Co., WV. She graduated from Barnard College, New York City, with a B.A., and obtained both a M.S. degree in Education and a Masters in Counseling Psychology from Frostburg State University. She was a Life Member of Frostburg Area Ambulance, a volunteer for, Meals on Wheels, and the Interfaith Community Pantry in Cumberland. She was a member of Emmanuel Episcopal Church, Cumberland.

She is survived by her daughters, Patience E. Vrieze-See (Kenneth), Adrian, MI; Emily C. Glueck (William), Seattle, WA; Jannetje A. Vrieze, Eureka, CA: Julie M. Murtha, Frostburg, MD; and son, John Michael Vrieze, Arcata, CA; nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; and two sisters.

A Requiem Eucharist will be held at Emmanuel Church, Cumberland on Monday, March 25, 2024, at 1 pm.

Inurnment will be held privately at Rose Hill Cemetery.
