Patricia McGowan

70, of Shaft, died peacefully at home on Saturday, August 4, 2018.

Patty was born in Frostburg, MD on May 24, 1948 to the late Leon J. and Florine P. McGowan.

Patty is survived by sister, Elaine White, Frostburg; her nephew Leon White and wife Emily; nieces, Roxann Pfeffer and her husband Mike, and Rosella White. Her great nieces and nephews, Cecilia, Sophia, Lauryn, Ava, Landon, Landon White, William and Charlie.  Patty is also survived by numerous cousins.

Patty attended grade school at St. Joseph's in Midland and was a graduate of St. Peters High School, Westernport in 1966. She attended Catherman’s Business School and later graduated from Allegany College in Accounting.

Patty was retired from The Kelly Springfield with over 30 years of service in the Business Office. She also worked for the City of Frostburg for 5 years as a dispatcher for the Frostburg Police Department.

Patty was a proud member of the Shaft Volunteer Fire Company for over 33 years and served as Treasurer during her career.

Friends and family will be received at Durst Funeral Home P.A., 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Tuesday, August 7, 2018 from 4 to 8 pm.

Members of the Shaft Volunteer Fire Company will hold a Memorial Service at 7 pm.

A funeral mass will be celebrated at Divine Mercy Parish St. Joseph’s in Midland on Wednesday, August 8, 2018 at 10:30 am with Fr. Ed Hendricks as celebrant.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Shaft Volunteer Fire Company, 19303 Shaft Road, SW, Frostburg, MD 21532.

Patty’s family would like to thank her caregivers these past few weeks and the Hospice Workers from the Western Maryland Regional Medical Center.
