Peggy Joan Whitaker, 83, of LaVale, passed away Monday, July 7, 2025, at her residence.

Born May 4, 1942, to the late Alice J. and George W. Bucklew, Sr. She is preceded in death by the love of her life, George E. Whitaker Sr., and daughter Tammy Blank-Menefee.

Peggy was a 1960 graduate of Beall High School. She was a seamstress and employed by Schwab's cutting department and then at Biederlack. She loved to quilt and was a member of the Cover-Up girls quilting group in Frostburg. Peggy was also a member of Farrady Post 24 American Legion Ladies Auxiliary.

She enjoyed casino bus trips and loved to play bingo. Peggy also loved her family and friends as well as her precious dog, Tinkerbell.

Surviving are daughter, Brenda J. Whitaker; son, George E. Whitaker Jr. and wife LuAnn; son-in-law, James Menefee; grandchildren, Ryan Whitaker and wife Caitlin, David Whitaker; great-granddaughter, Rylin Whitaker; brother, George W. Bucklew Jr. and wife Sara.

Friends and family will be received on Saturday, July 12, 2025, from 11 am to 12 noon at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg. A funeral service will follow with Peg Marshall officiating.
