Robert Coburn

October 26, 1946 — October 19, 2019

Robert L. Coburn, 72, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 19, 2019, at his home surrounded by family.

Born on October 26, 1946, in Cumberland, he was the son of the late George Junior and Helen Elizabeth (Lashbaugh) Coburn.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Harold, Georgie and Roger Coburn.

Bob was a proud Vietnam veteran having served in the United States Navy.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, “Dodie” Coburn; sons, Bobby Coburn and wife Lynn, and Joey Coburn and partner Thomas Pan; grandchildren, Will, Meghan and special friend Steven, Elli, Chagall and Lilly; sister, Kathy Lancaster and husband Ralph; sister-in-law, Karen Rexrode; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins; his dog, Frida; and special friends, Bob Jones, Francis Scarcelli, Dale Cutter and Ronnie Labor.

To know Bob Coburn was to know a kind friend that always had a smile on his face. Trading a perfectly tuned mower for an old clunker or redesigning any old throw away to house a family of robins was a hobby only dad could keep up with. Watching him as he sipped a beer and talked about the weather with his buddies or made small talk at Springs on a Saturday morning always put us in awe. Everyone seemed to know dad and the very sweetest called him a sweetheart. Dad leaves a best friend of fifty-four years his wife who understood all the jokes and stories and rewrote the ending to a story she retells in tears of laughter. Bob leaves a family who will forever celebrate his generous life.

A time of remembrance of Bob’s life will be held at the Frostburg K of C, 11 E. Main Street, on Thursday, October 24, 2019, from 3-5 pm.
