Rosalie DeVore

October 17, 1937 — August 25, 2014

Rosalie Viola  DeVore , 76, of Ellerslie, Md passed away Monday, August 25, 2014 at Western Maryland Regional Medical Center. She was surrounded by family after suffering from a sudden acute illness. She went home to be in the arms of her Mother. Rosie is now in heaven and will live in forever in the hearts of her family.

Born October 17, 1937, Frostburg, Md. Rosalie is preceded in death by her parents James and Freda Ellen (Schrock) McKenzie.

She leaves behind the love of her life, her husband of fifty-seven years; Winston DeVore. Winston and Rosie were made for each other. They loved spending time with their children and grandchildren which was indeed the center of their universe. Surviving are the daughters who utterly adored and worshipped their Mother. They feel that God blessed them again and again by giving them the extreme honor of calling her mother. Rosie’s three daughters are Diana Sindy, Denise Phillips and Beth DeVore. Rosie is also survived by five grandchildren who were the heart and soul of her existence. There was no greater grandmother than Mom Mom Rosie. She leaves a huge hole in the hearts of these grandchildren; Bethany Sindy, Stephanie Sindy, Cody Sindy, Chad Sindy and Logan Phillips. She is also survived by Gary Sindy, son-in-law and Darrell Lyons, Just-like-a-son-in-law. Also, she is survived by sister Polly Reed and brother Jimmy McKenzie. In addition, Rosie was also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Furthermore, a very very special niece Paula Fuller who was like a daughter to Rosie. Paula truly touched Rosie’s life with love and compassion, and for this the family will be eternally grateful.

Rosie worked at the family business for many years. She took tremendous pride and dedication to making DeVore’s Market the fabulous country market that it was. She loved being a part of the family business and working alongside her husband, daughters and many great friends/employees. However, Rosie’s most important job that she held near and dear to her heart was being a wife, mother and her most cherished and treasured title; “Mom-Mom Rosie”! She followed her grandkids to every sporting and school-related event. She was a true and dedicated fan. Rosie could always be seen with that beautiful smile on her face. Rosie’s absence will be deeply missed. Rosie loved life and never took for granted the simple things that make life so rich with love. She loved her family, her home, her yard and her family vacations to Disney World and the beach. She was the most amazing woman in the world. She taught the family that family always comes first and we will continue to carry on her legacy. We will live each and every day with “Mom” in our hearts….

There will be a celebration of life to honor Rosalie. The service will be held at Calvary Bible Baptist Church, Ellerslie, Md at 2 p.m. today, Thursday, August 28th. All family and friends are invited to share in this celebration and tribute to an amazing woman.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to your choice of any children’s charity.

The family would like to thank Dr. Blanche Mavromatis for the dedication and compassion and sincerer love she gave to the DeVore family and most of all to Rosie. Dr. Mavromatis was truly a blessing to us all and for this we are forever and eternally thankful. She is a tremendous doctor and friend.
