Ruth Elizabeth (Knisley) Barnes

100, of Midlothian passed away Friday, July 15, 2016 at her son’s home in Midlothian.

Born March 30, 1916 in Everett, Pennsylvania. She was the daughter of the late Elias and Grace (Williams) Knisley.

She was also preceded in death by her husband, Gilbert L. Barnes, Sr., and brother, Fred Knisley and sisters, Bertha MacDonald and Maria Border.

Mrs. Barnes worked at the Celanese Fibers Plant until the birth of her first born son. She then devoted the rest of her life to the care and well being of her family.

She attended the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses.

She is survived by her sons, Gilbert L. Barnes, Jr. and wife Mabel (Sansom) and Roy W. Barnes and fiancé, Margie E. Sutherland.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Bradley J. Barnes and fiancé Jennifer Burkett, Shaun M. Barnes and wife Dana, Andrea L. Gostomski and husband Pete.  Great grandson’s Gavin Barnes, Quinn Barnes, William Barnes, Christopher Barnes, Jacob Gostomski, Joel Gostomski and great granddaughter, Adisyn Burkett.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Ave., Frostburg, Md on Monday, July 18, 2016 from 6 to 8 pm.

Funeral services will be held at Durst Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 19, 2016 at 2:00 pm with Mr. Jeff Alderton as speaker, friends will be received one hour prior to service.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Bradley Barnes, Shaun Barnes, Pete Gostomski, Gavin Barnes, Quinn Barnes and Michael Dixon.
