Ruth M. Beal, 92, of Mt. Savage, went to be with the Lord on Monday,
September 18, 2023.
Born on December 16, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Homer A. and
Gladys M. (Machin) Black. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death
by her husband, Richard Beal, as well as her sister Evelyn Hausrath, and many
close family and loving friends.
She is survived by her children, Karen Bonner, Mary Beal, Thomas Beal, and
wife Tammy; her granddaughters, Jennifer Bonner (Jason), Autumn Beal (Adam),
Amanda Beal (Josh), and Sadie Beal (James); great-grandchildren, Macy, Eliza, and
Julian; brother-in-law Gene Hausrath; and special nieces and nephews Sue, Nancy,
Carol, Mary Ann, Joe, and Jim.
Everyone knew Ruth. If a school bus beeped at you and the driver was
waving, it was probably her. She drove special needs children on her bus for over
thirty-five years, as well as for the girls' volleyball and basketball teams, the band,
and field trips at Mt. Savage School. In addition, Ruth was well-known for her
talent as a seamstress, making and altering countless May Day and prom dresses,
and the occasional wedding gown.
Ruth was a life-long member of St. George's Episcopal Church in Mt. Savage,
where she was a member of the Altar Guild and the Women of St. George's
organization. She was also very active in community activities, cheering on local
sports teams, and volunteering anywhere she was needed. She loved spending
time with her family and friends, especially on out of town shopping trips.
The family would like to give special thanks to the staff at Sterling Care at
Frostburg Village and the high level care staff at UPMC for the kind and
compassionate care given to their mom.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. George's
Episcopal Church, at P.O. Box 655, Mt. Savage, Maryland, 21545.
