Teri Sue Lavin

Teri Sue Lavin, 66, of Frostburg passed away on Saturday, September 19, 2026.

Born on September 23, 1959 to late Mary (Foutz) and Elmer "Tug" Gattens. In addition the her parents she is preceded in death by her brothers, John Gattens, and Dick Gattens; special nephew, Steve O'Haver

Teri was a member at Barton Methodist Church and worked for 30 years in Allegany County School system at Valley High, Beall High and Mt. Ridge as the office secretary. She was well known for her beautiful penmanship and calligraphy as she hand wrote each graduation certificate. She had a love for scrapbooking, animals and visiting her sister in North Carolina.

Surviving are her son, Jeremy Lavin and wife Laura; daughter, Jennifer Tharp and husband Jason; her only granddaughter who called her Gee and the light of her life, Rylee McKenzie; brother, Charles Gatten, Fred Gattens; sister, Sharon Wright, Cindy Youngblood and husband Harry, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her beloved cats, Little Man, Missy Moo, Lucy and Willow.

Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Friday, September 25, 2026 from 11AM to 1 PM. Funeral service will follow at 1:00 with Celebrant Peg Marshall.

Interment will be in Restlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers the family ask that donation be made to Allegany County Animal Shelter, 716 Furnace St, Cumberland MD, 21502.
