William James Tucker (Bill)
March 15, 1956 - March 14, 2024

Bill Tucker, 67, passed away on March 14th at the Peace Healthcare Nursing Home in Frostburg, MD after an extended illness. Born on March 15, 1956, he was the son of the late William and Dorothy Tucker. He is survived by his sisters, Kathleen Cummings, Barbara Malavet and Jeanne Kallis, eight nieces and nephews and six great nieces and nephews.

Bill grew up in Uniondale and Rockville Centre, NY and attended Oceanside High School, where he was an honor student and a National Merit Semi-Finalist. He graduated from Tufts University and the University of Michigan where he earned an M.S. in Workplace Safety Management. After working in that field in Tampa FL and Aberdeen MD, Bill continued his earlier studies of the Transcendental Meditation Technique (TM) and then became a teacher of TM. For the rest of his career, he worked in various capacities for the TM organization.

Bill is beloved by his family and many friends for his kind, gentle personality, always thinking the best of everyone with no ill will to any person or group.

He was an ardent sports fan and could recall in detail every important game in the last 40 years. He loved all the local NY teams, especially the Mets. Bill was an astute sports analyst and would have made a fine sports writer. He himself was a good athlete and a neighborhood MVP, playing basketball and softball in his youth.

Bill was a great outdoorsman and champion hiker. He loved to explore uncharted wildernesses in the Smokies, Alleghenies, Catskills and Adirondacks. He even ventured out to the Rockies a few times even at the risk of sometimes getting lost and sleeping under the stars. When hiking up mountains with friends, he would graciously stop and wait for his buddies lagging behind.

A private remembrance is planned.
