William E. Brode Jr. peacefully passed away at home on May 7, 2022 after a long battle with cancer.
Born on October 15, 1960, he was the loving son of Mary Beulah (Finzel) and William E. Brode Sr. He is preceded in death by his parents.
Bill was a 1978 graduate of Beall HS. Bill had a zest for life and traveling. He visited all 50 states and numerous countries, Bill left his mark everywhere he went. Music, especially the Beatles played an integral role in Bill’s life. He had a wealth of knowledge when it came to all things music and sports. Bill was an avid football and baseball fan, mainly the Washington Football Team and loved watching all baseball games. Bill loved his fantasy baseball draft with the same guys for over 30 years. He has an extensive collection of baseball cards, which he began accumulating early in life. Bill loved spending time with his family and friends, whom he has made countless memories with.
Surviving are his wife, Christina Brode; sister, Joy Brode; brothers, Larry Brode Sr. and Mark Brode; niece and nephews, Vanessa Brode, Brandon Brode, and Larry Brode, Jr.; aunts and uncles, Paul and Norma Brode, Robert and Sadie Brode, Ernie and Thelma Goebel, Miriam Brode, and Mary Brode and numerous cousins.
Family and friends will be received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on Wednesday, May 11, 2022 from 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm.
Funeral service will be held at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, 4829 Cumberland Highway, Meyersdale, PA on Thursday, May 12, 2022 at 1:00 pm with Rev. Glenn Foster officiating.
Interment will follow in Frostburg Memorial Park. Pallbearers are Brett Bond, Chuck Bond, Dennis McKenzie, Michael Troutman and Wes Walker.
With all the care that Bill received, the family requests, in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the funeral home to have gift baskets made for his local care givers.
