Anna Gracie

Anna May Gracie, 92, of Frostburg, went to be with the Lord on Friday, November 20, 2020 at the Sterling Care Frostburg Village.

She was born on May 2, 1928 in Meyersdale, PA to the late Earl and Rosella (Ash) Baker. In addition to her parents, she is preceded by her husbands, Fred Thomas, Willis Beckman, and Thomas Gracie; siblings, Clark D. Baker, Paul Baker, Joan L. Opel, Clifford E. Baker Sr., and Bernard C. Baker.

Anna May was Methodist by faith, was a retired Supervisor from Flushing Shirt factory in Grantsville and Grahamtown. She was only allowed to go to the 8th grade having to stay home to help with her siblings and work the farm. She later received her GED when her daughter graduated from high school.  She taught industrial sewing classes at VoTech center in the evenings. Anna May also received her certificate in Reflexology.

She had a great sense of humor and always had a smile on her face. Her laughter was contagious.  Anna May was a member of the Quilters Group at Frostburg Senior Center. She enjoyed quilting and made one for each of her grandchildren. She loved to be out on the water in a boat fishing. She even taught some of her grandchildren how to catch and clean a fish. She had a fond love of nature especially watching birds and squirrels. Her loving and kind heart will be greatly missed.  She had a way about her that made everyone feel special and loved.

Surviving are her daughter, Sandra K. Durst and husband John, her son, Galen Beitzel and wife Dorothy; grandchildren, Jonas Durst and wife Tara, Stephanie McAteer and husband Eddie, Chrystal Golliday and husband Chris, Nicholas Durst and wife Jacqueline, Jared Beitzel, Charity Bullington and husband Lance, Jewell Paxton and husband Jeremy and step granddaughter whom she raised, Sarah Gracie; great grandchildren, Keaden, Casen, Brock, Addison, Brook, Kanden, Malia and Bradley; brother, Ronald J. Baker and wife Jane; sister, Kay Atwell; numerous step children and step grandchildren; and numerous nieces, nephews, and friends.

Interment will be at Restlawn Memorial Gardens beside her beloved husband.

A memorial will take place at a later date when social distancing will be a thing of the past.

A special thank you to the staff and caregivers for their love, care and smiles they brought to Anna during her stay at Sterling Care.
