Deborah Ann Diaz Dunnivan, 68, of Frostburg, MD passed away peacefully at home on January 9th, 2021.
Born July 13, 1952 in Frostburg, she was the daughter of the late Manuel "Jitters" Diaz and Amy Plummer Diaz.
She was proceeded in death by her paternal grandparents, Candio and Maria Alverez Diaz and her maternal grandparents Emeory and Mary Edna Devore Plummer. Also numerous Aunts, uncles and friends. Her very special friend John "Jack" Gunter and her ex-husband James "Eggie" Dunnivan and her special 4 legged little girl, Jewels, who passed away in October.
Debbie was a 1970 graduate of Beall High School and a graduate of the Beauty Academy in Cumberland. Debbie then purchased and became the owner of Athey's Beauty Shop in Lavale, MD. Debbie continued her career as a beautician at Styles Unlimited in Frostburg, owned by her close friend Karen Devlin Dixon. Debbie also worked at Margie's Beauty Salon in Frostburg owned by her close friend, the late Margaret Cline. After 25 years as a beautician, Debbie discovered her real passion for cooking. With just a dream of owning her own catering business Debbie set out to make it happen and in 1989 she opened Debbie's Catering Business in Grahamtown. She was an extremely talented self- taught wedding cake decorator and produced thousands of cakes spanning 30 years. Debbie was the in-house caterer for the Hotel Gunter and in 1995 opened a restaurant next to the Hotel Gunter, called Gladstones Family Restaurant. Whether it be a small family dinner or a wedding reception for hundreds, Debbie could make it happen and make it delicious! At age 58, Debbie finally retired.
Debbie leaves behind her brother Darren Diaz, two daughters, Courtney (Diaz) Darr and husband, James. And Kasey Dunnivan and fiancee Ashley Weaver. All of Frostburg Md. She also leaves behind her one and only grandson, Jesse Dickerson Jr of Honolulu, Hawaii, who was her pride and joy. And her 4 legged buddy, Milo.
Over the years Debbie made alot of special friends, including Sandi Buckalew, who was like a sister and Dave "Rock" Broadwater.
Debbie was a giver and even in death wanted to help others. Her body was donated to Science in Baltimore. As per her wishes her body will be cremated. There will be no service or viewing.
