George Gaughan

George Edward Gaughan, 69, of Mount Savage, passed away suddenly on Saturday, October 31, 2020, at UPMC Western Maryland.

Born on February 5, 1951, in Mount Savage, he was the son of the James P. and Betty Jane (Brown) Gaughan. In addition to his parents, George was preceded in death by his brothers, Timothy, Henry and Frank Gaughan.

Following graduation from high school, George was a sergeant in the U.S. Air Force having served in Vietnam. He retired from Frostburg State College in the Chesapeake Hall Dining Services working for Marriott Corp.

Surviving are his brothers, William Gaughan, Richard Gaughan, John Gaughan, Stephen Gaughan, Anthony Gaughan, Christopher Gaughan, Michael Gaughan, Peter Gaughan; sisters, Barbara DeMoss, Mary Jane Werner, Kateri Dawson, Teresa Bishop, Rose Marie O’Brien and Anne Russell; numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Due to Covid-19, a private family service will be held.

In lieu of flowers, donations in George’s name can be made to any of our local church food pantries.

Inurnment will be in the Maryland Veterans Cemetery at Rocky Gap.
