Margaret Speir

Margaret F. (Jones) Speir, 94, of Frostburg passed away on Saturday, March 12, 2022.

Born in Shaft, MD on April 29, 1927. She was the daughter of the late Charles and Mary (Whitehead) Jones.

In addition to her parents she is preceded in death by her husband of 46 years James Speir (June 30, 1945); daughter, Sharon (Thomas) Alexander; sister, Nellie (Clarence) Lehr; stepfather, WM Jones; son in law, James Lough.

Margaret was a member of Trinity Assembly of God in Midlothian. She graduated Beall High School class of 1945 and went on to work for the Celanese Company, Frostburg State and Sacred Heart Hospital.

Margaret enjoyed traveling, reading, Red Hats Heavenly Hatters, doing puzzles, woman’s missions in Midlothian Church and games with friends at Frostburg Heights where she resided.

Surviving are her daughter, Gail Weimer and husband Craig; grandchildren, Brett Gordon, Stacey Fortino and husband Larry, Shelli Gorden, David Cooper; great grandchildren, Hailey Turk, Olivia Turk, Austin Fortino, Shevin Knippenberg and wife Katie, Reese Gordon; great great-granddaughter, Adeline Knippenberg; niece, Cathy Lehr and son Rusty Lehr; step sons, Leonard Speir and wife Silda, James Speir and wife Patty; as well as many step grandchildren and step great grandchildren.

Family and friends were received at Durst Funeral Home, 57 Frost Avenue, Frostburg, MD on a private occasion.

Interment will be in Frostburg Memorial Park.
